WELSH BUSHI-KAI KARATE ASSOCIATION  – DAN GRADE CRITERIA ( from 2016)

1 Dan Grade Applicants to be registered with WBK Admin  by Club Instructors on or before 7th January

2. Dan Grading will take place at the end of September.

3. Dan Grade Assessment will be held approx one month prior to grading.

4. All candidates must train on at least 12 occasions with another Association Instructor, 4th Dan or above.

5. Candidates must attend the 3 compulsory Pre-Grade Course. ( Blocks / Kata / Basics ).

Please contact your Club instructor for further details. Course dates to be published when finalised.

Yesterday the Welsh Bushi-Kai conducted a Dan Grading at Baglan Community Centre.
After months of  preparation training, including a very intense week long course, we would like to congratulate the following students on successfully passing their Dan Grade Examination.

Gareth Thomas – Senior Shodan ( 1st Dan )
Camden Williams – Junior Shodan ( 1st Dan)
Ashley Lewis – Nidan ( 2nd Dan )

Another great day for the Association squad who competed at the latest WKL Event, held in Bridgend on Sunday.
Our small squad of talented and dedicated competitors returned with 5 gold, 4 silver, 5 bronze plus many other notable performances.

Gold:
U12 Team, U16 Team, Megan Taylor, Morgan Phillips & Mackenzie Aitchison.

Silver:
Nic Hole, Iestyn Williams, Keiron Hooper & Jacob Davies.

Bronze:
Becca Hole, Hudson Williams, Morgan Evans, Ethan Fluck & Abigail Fluck.

The Welsh Bushi-Kai will be hosting an Open Karate tournament on Sunday 31st January 2016.
The competition will be held at the Neath Leisure Centre in Cwrt Herbert, Neath.

WKF rules will apply at this event and all will be welcome.

Association KYU grading

Sunday 1st November in Cwrt Herbert. 9.00 – 11.30am

All paperwork to be in by the Thursday before please.

Dan grade assessment

Friday 30th October in Baglan karate club.

7.00 – 8.30pm

Dan Grading

The Dan grade course will begin on Monday 9th November, details to follow.

The Dan grading will take place on Saturday 14th November in Baglan community centre. 10.00am start, doors open 9.30am

Brown Belt Grading

The Brown Belt grading takes place on Saturday 19th September at our Club based in the Cwmafan Community Centre.
Grading will commence at 10.00am, doors open at 9.30am

Brown Belt Courses

As part of the final preparation for grading, two courses have been arranged.
1 – Friday 4th September
2 – Friday 11th September

Both courses will be held at the Baglan Dojo, 7.00pm til 8.30pm.
Normal Dojo fees apply.

LATE REPORT!

On Sunday July 12th, the Welsh Bushi-Kai squad travelled up to Wrexham for the 2nd event in the 2015/16 WKL Series.

We are proud to report that our squad produced another excellent display resulting in 9 Gold, 3 Silver and 2 Bronze medals.

Welsh Karate League   2015:
The next Welsh Karate League event takes place in Wrexham on Sunday 12th July.
All students wishing to enter this competition should get their entries to our Association Coach,  Nigel Taylor, by Monday 6th July.

Welsh Bushi- Kai Kyu Gradings and Course:
The Association  Kyu Grade Course & Grading takes place on Sunday 5th July at Cwrt Herbert Sport Centre  in Neath.
There will also be a course for Senior Grades ( 4th Kyu and above)  taking place.
Times: 9.00am – 11.30am

Reminder: An up to date licence is a mandatory requirement to grade / train.
