Grading Report 03/11/13

Course and Grading Report:

Yesterday was a busy day for the Welsh Bushi-Kai as we held our Autumn Kyu Grading, Brown Belt Course and a re-arranged Dan Grading at the Cwrt Herbert Sports Centre in Neath.

The Kyu Grade Course and Grading was a great success, and it was great to see the determination and attitude of our Junior Grades, particularly the novices ( some as young as 5 yrs old! ). We are pleased to report that a 100% pass rate was achieved and would like to thank the Club Instructors for all their efforts in preparing their students. – well done everyone.

With the Brown Belt Grading taking place next weekend, it was the last chance for our Purple and Brown Belts to fine tune their preparations. As expected, the numbers in attendance was excellent, with several students who are not due to grade until next year taking the opportunity to train with our Senior Grades.

Dan Grade News:

In addition to our scheduled Course & Grading, we also conducted a Dan Grading yesterday for one of our students who was injured in the preparations for the Dan Grading a few weeks ago. We would like to congratulate Julian Thomas on successfully passing his Shodan Grading.

Finally, yesterday was a landmark occasion within the Association as Natacha Coleman, Instructor of our Neath Bushi-Kai Club, became our first female karate-ka to be promoted to 4th Dan. This long overdue award was made by the WBK Executive in recognition of the dedication, skill and commitment that Natacha has shown over many years. – well done – thoroughly deserved.

Both Natacha and Julian were presented with their Dan Grade Certificates by Sensei Percy Brown, 6th Dan.
