Tournament News Oct 4th

WBK Event:  Many thanks to all those who attended our tournament earlier today, which was once again held in the true spirit of Karate with some excellent Kata and Kumite performances. Special mention to the Officials and volunteers for their diligence and hard work in ensuring the event ran to schedule. The next Welsh Bushi-Kai Tournament will be held on March 21st 2010. Full listing of todays results can be viewed on the Results Page.

W.K.G.B Welsh Open Championships take place next weekend. Good luck to the Welsh Bushi-Kai Squad attending this event.

Reminder

The Welsh Bushi-Kai Invitation Tournament takes place at the Afan Lido on Sunday October 4th. All entries to be returned by Wednesday 30th Sept. Late entries will incur an additional charge.

Sept News Brief

Dan Grading Sept 19th:
Congratulations to Rebecca Hole (Junior 1st Dan) , Mike O’Leary, Greg Ryan, Matthew Thomas, Darren Williams, Grant Hole, Tracey Williams, Ben Davies, Sabrina Harris and Hannah Griffith (2nd Dan) on passing their grading  at the Afan Lido. Months of hard work has paid off – well done.
Grading Examiners: Percy Brown 6th Dan, Nigel Taylor 5th Dan, Owen Cranfield 5th Dan, Paul Bridge 5th Dan and Daryl John 4th Dan.

Grand Slam Karate – Dublin Sept 19th:
Three WBK members – Mark Mcmahon, Rhys Edwards and Anthony Bridge – were part of the Senior Welsh Team that competed in this International Karate Event. Well done to our lads and the whole of the Welsh squad who gave such a good account of themselves.

BKF Championships – Edinburgh Sept 4th/5th:
Some great performances at the British championships in Edinburgh with a great display of fighting by Jordan Harris to take the bronze medal. There were also notable performances from Morgan Phillips. who had a top eight finish in his first British championships in a massive pool of 60 fighters,and Tom O’Leary who also had a top eight finish in his first outing at under 14 level.
All competitors fought with great spirit and discipline and will have improved from the experience.

Assessment

Reminder:
The Dan Grade assessment is taking place at the Afan Lido on Friday 28th August …7.30pm start.  Will all students attending please bring your Training Record cards.

Normal training on the night will be between 7.30pm and 8.30pm.
Those taking the assessment will remain until 9.15pm 

 

Welsh Squad selections

At the Welsh Squad selections held in Cardiff earlier today, 4 Welsh Bushi-Kai fighters were selected to represent Wales in two International Events.

Irish Grand Slam Event – Dublin Sept:  Mark McMahon, Rhys Edwards and Anthony Bridge selected for Senior Mens Team

World Junior/Cadet/U21 Championships- Rabat, Morocco Nov:  Jordan Harris (Junior) and Anthony Bridge (U21) selected for the Welsh Squad.
