Vegas News.

Day 1
First report back from the USA Open is that Nigel Taylor, Welsh Bushi-Kai Kumite Coach, has won a Bronze Medal in the Veterans category. This means that Nigel has now medalled in tournaments in each decade since the 70’s !  ( His first medal being won in 1979 )

Well done Nige.
Other news from Friday’s event in Vegas is that Jordan Harris, competing in the “Junior Olympic” category & scheduled to fight at 11 am eventually got on the area at 7pm and was “unlucky” to lose early on to an American opponent.
Team events will be taking place today ( Sat ) and the Individuals tomorrow.

Day 2
Yesterday the Welsh Bushi-Kai team were in action in Vegas and put in another outstanding performance. After making it through the earlier rounds, they finished with a Top 5 placing after losing out to the USA National team for the Bronze medal. This achievement can be put into context when you realise that our team were the only “Club Team” present, the rest being National Squad teams.

Day 3
Today saw the individual categories taking place and our fighters once again did themselves justice by competing against some top quality opposition.
Anthony Bridge, Rhys Edwards and Jordan Hopkins all progressed into the last 16 of their categories before losing out. No medals , but 3 top 16 placings at one of the biggest events on the karate calendar is still a great result and demonstrates that our fighters can compete at the highest level. Finally, Jordan Harris, the last of our fighters to compete today continued on from his fine performance in Turkey by winning the Bronze in his event. Well done to everyone .
